KALAMAFONI AND TRINDER MAKE SQUAD
David Humphreys, Gloucester’s Director of Rugby while preparing for his team’s game against Bath, will be opting for a blend of experience and youth in selecting his men.
This will see two of Gloucester’s men, Sione Kalamafoni and Henry Trinder, make their first appearance for the team this season. The duo have been out of the game due to injuries, but with their inclusion, they would be looking forward to impress so as to make up for their time out.
Gloucester will flaunt a squad captained by scrum half Callum Braley. He would be partnered at half back by Wales’s international, James Hook.
At the back line, a lot of experience would come in handy for the team as Tom Marshall takes the full back position. On the wings are the duo of David Halaifonua and Henry Purdy. In the midfield, Trinder would be partnered with Andy Symons.
In the front row will be a number of equally experienced players like Yann Thomas, Paul Doran Jones and Darren Dawidiuk. They would be charging down in front of Joe Batley and Joe Latta in the boiler room.
At the back row are Freddie Clarke, Dan Thomas and Kalamafoni. Three Academy products make up the squad, namely Thomas, Batley and Clarke.
So far in the competition, Gloucester has been able to garner six points from their first two games. Luckily, their hope of a semifinal spot is still very much alive, as they sit behind Leicester, shy of three points.
Richard Whiffin, the Academy Backs and Attack coach who is in the driving seat this week, noted that the team has been able to build a good momentum in the weeks past, with the younger guys in the team pushing the starting team hard during training.
